Shrinkage bubble CO2 reconstructions from ocean island basalt melt inclusions

This spreadsheet compiles melt inclusion CO2 data from ocean island basalts for which shrinkage bubble sizes were reported, and presents calculations of shrinkage bubble and total CO2 concentrations. CO2 and H2O concentrations were measured in the glassy part of the melt inclusion, either by FTIR or SIMS. Bubble CO2 concentrations were calculated using the methodology described in Tucker et al. (2019). Data covers Iceland, Azores, Canaries, and Hawaii. https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/111230

Light stable isotopic compositions of enriched mantle sources: Resolving the dehydration paradox

Volatile compositions of enriched mid-ocean ridge basalt are presented, including water concentrations (FTIR and TC/EA) and isotopic ratios of hydrogen (Conventional and TC/EA), boron (laser ablation ICP-MS), lithium (MC-ICP-MS) and oxygen (laser fluorination). Of special significance, we performed an interlaboratory comparison between conventional and TC/EA techniques for hydrogen isotopic ratios in basaltic glasses, resulting in revisions to the mica standardization protocol for the TC/EA method. Glasses from the Arctic and South Atlantic were analyzed for deltaD SMOW using stepped-heating manometry/mass spectrometry at the University of Miami Stable Isotope Laboratory. Water contents and hydrogen isotope ratios of glasses from the Azores Platform and EPR 6° to 17°N were measured by continuous flow via the High Temperature Conversion / Elemental Analyzer (TC/EA) technique at the University of Oregon. In situ boron isotopic compositions were measured by laser ablation, multiple-multiplier ICP-MS at the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism, Carnegie Institute of Washington. Lithium concentrations and isotopic compositions were measured by MC-ICP-MS at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory using chemistry and column procedures following Tomascak et al. [1999], with minor modifications. Oxygen isotopes from Arctic ridge samples were measured by J. Eiler at the California Institute of Technology as described in Cooper et al. [2004]. https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/100728

Data Report Stable Isotope Analysis: NBP0702

Delta-18O and Delta-D ratio measurements of water from the "NBP0702" project. 493 samples collected from Nov, 2011 to March 2012 on the research ship R/V Nathaniel B. Palmer in the Amundsen Sea. https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/100272

EarthChem Data-To-Go: Geochemical Data for Melt Inclusions, version February 2019

This dataset contains major oxides, trace element, and isotope compositional data of all melt inclusion samples in PetDB (https://search.earthchem.org/) including reference information and metadata such as analytical method and expedition information. This data was obtained in February, 2019 using the search term: Sample Type = Inclusion; Inclusion Type= Glass. https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/111308

Volcanic gas plume data from Nea Kameni volcano (Santorini, Greece)

Volcanic gas ratios of the main fumarole of Nea Kameni volcano (March 2012-October 2014), acquired using a Multi-GAS of the DECADE network. Data are reported for the plume released by the summit open vent. All ratios are expressed on molar basis. Note that this file includes only processed data showing ratios of gases (calculated using the Ratiocalc software). https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/100650

Electron microprobe analyses of minerals from Apollo 15 mare basalt rake samples

This dataset contains quantitative electron microprobe analyses of minerals in 28 mare basalts. https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/110997

Alarcon Rise, Alarcon Seamounts, and Tamayo and Pescadero transform lava glass chemistry

Electron micropobe major element data collected on lava glasses during 2003-2015 expeditions of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) to the Alarcon Rise, Alarcon Seamounts, and the Tamayo and Pescadero transforms using ROV Tiburon and ROV Doc Ricketts from the R/V Western Flyer; chief scientist David Clague. https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/100670

Calcium isotope data for bulk chondrules, chondrites and achondrites

This data set contains bulk rock, mass-dependent (42Ca/44Ca and 43Ca/44Ca) and mass-independent (48Ca/44Ca) calcium isotope compositions of chondrites (carbonaceous and ordinary) as well as terrestrial rock standards, lunar, Martian, ureilite, eucrite and angrite meteorites reported relative to the SRM 915b standard. Samples were analysed to investigate Solar System and planet formation processes. All data were produced by wet chemical analysis on a multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer following separation of calcium from its matrix through ion exchange chromatography. https://doi.org/10.1594/IEDA/100744
